Measuring only a couple square inches is a printed circuit board with a camera and lens system from a cell phone. This small and inconspicuous device (still in the prototyping stage) sitting on the programmer's desk is an image processing system.
The goal behind the system is to provide a sensor system capable of optically detecting irregularities or inconsistencies, then sending the image information to a server for more advanced computations as needed.
The uses for such a sensor system are endless, they range all the way from: counting the number of bats leaving a cave to analyzing the contents of natural gas being emitted from a well head. Please let us know if you have any sensing needs where optical analysis could be beneficial.
